Uttarkashi Flood Rescue Operation: Due to heavy rains and landslides in the Dharali region of Uttarkashi, the situation is serious, army, ITBP, SDRF teams continuously engaged in relief and rescue work, villagers are being sent to safe places by air route.
Dharali Disaster 2025: The situation in the Dharali Valley of Uttarkashi affected by continuous rains and landslides still remain challenging. The contact of the villages has been cut due to the boom of Ganga and its tributaries. In such a situation, teams of Army, ITBP, SDRF and NDRF are on the front and the relief-rescue campaign is going on round the clock.
Why was the relief work difficult?
Landslide occurred in many places after heavy rains on 15 and 16 August in Dharali region. This closed the roads and made it difficult to deliver the necessary supply to the villages. BRO and Army Engineering Teams have been engaged in cleaning roads and removing debris. Unilateral traffic has been restored in many places, but the risk still remains intact.

Who are the teams in relief and rescue?
- NDRF and SDRF: Sector A and B are constantly working with search operations, dog squads and technical search equipment.
- ITBP: Rescue in hilly areas and difficult accessories.
- Army and Air Force: The helicopters (Chinook, ALH and Mi series) are providing essential items and medicines.
- BRO: Road restoration is working at many places including NH-34 blocked by landslides.
How are the necessary facilities reaching people?
So far, ration, medicines and other essential materials have been transported to the affected villages through dozens of air flights. SDRF and army teams are removing people to safe places. Reserve ration and drinking water are also being sent and sent.
How are scientists and experts help?
Scientists of IIT Roorkee, Wadia Institute and GSI (Geological Survey of India) are constantly surveying the area. They are monitoring the structure of the mountains and the flow of the river, so that the administration can get the correct information about the possible threats in the future.
Relief work is still going on in Dharali and surrounding areas. The administration has appealed people to stay away from the river banks and slopes. Based on the report of scientists, work on the plan of rehabilitation and permanent solution in the next few days is expected to be faster.
