When is Dhanteras? (When is Dhanteras 2025)
According to the Vedic calendar, this year the Trayodashi tithi of Kartik month will start on Saturday, October 18 at 12:18 pm. This date will remain till 01:51 pm on Sunday, October 19. In such a situation, this year the festival of Dhanteras will be celebrated on 18 October.
made of iron
There is a tradition of buying metal on Dhanteras, but buying things made of iron on this day is not considered auspicious. According to beliefs, iron is the factor of Shanidev. Buying it on Dhanteras brings inauspiciousness in life.
made of steel
Steel utensils or other items should not be bought on the day of Dhanteras, hence avoid purchasing things made of steel on this day.
made of glass
Glass is considered to be related to Rahu, hence one should not buy anything made of glass on the day of Dhanteras, as it can bring negative energy into the house.
sharp objects
Sharp or pointed things like needles, scissors, knives should not be bought on the day of Dhanteras. It is believed that bringing sharp objects into the house on this day brings bad luck and negativity.
empty vessel
Buying utensils on the day of Dhanteras is considered auspicious, but keep in mind that do not bring empty utensils home on this day. Empty utensils indicate emptiness in the house.
black things
Black colored things should not be bought on the day of Dhanteras. Black colored things are considered inauspicious. In such a situation, one should avoid buying black colored things or clothes on the day of Dhanteras.
