BJP’s Pawan Kumar Jaiswal won the 2020 Dhaka Assembly elections (Dhaka Vidhan Sabha Chunav 2020). He defeated RJD’s Faisal Rehman.

- Faisal Rehman (RJD) -89,678 votes (43.15%)
- Margin of victory – 10,114 votes
Important thing: This win shows that the competition here is always close and exciting.
Note: BJP leader Pawan Kumar Jaiswal is a graduate. There are five criminal cases against him. His total assets are around Rs 5.17 crore and he also has liabilities of Rs 60 lakh.
2015 Dhaka assembly elections-RJD has the upper hand
In 2015, the situation reversed and this time RJD’s Faisal Rehman won. He defeated the BJP candidate by a huge margin.
- Faisal Rehman (RJD) -87,458 votes (47%)
- Pawan Kumar Jaiswal (BJP)-68,261 votes (37%)
- Margin of victory-19,197 votes
Important thing: This victory proved to be a big success for RJD.
2010 Dhaka Assembly elections – Independents pull out an upset
The 2010 elections proved to be a major turning point in Dhaka politics. This time Pawan Kumar Jaiswal (Independent) won the election and surprised everyone.
- Pawan Kumar Jaiswal (Independent)-48,096 votes (38%)
- Faisal Rehman (JDU)-46,451 votes (37%)
- Margin of victory – 1,649 votes
Important thing: This result shows that any candidate in Dhaka Assembly can create history at any time.
