On the day of fast of Dev Uthani Ekadashi, one should eat satvik food. Tamasic food and rice should not be eaten on this day. One should not wear black clothes. House and temple should be kept clean. The fast should be broken on Dwadashi date only. After breaking the fast, one should donate food, money etc. to the temple or poor people.
