Dev Diwali 2025: The festival of Dev Diwali is very special. This festival is celebrated 15 days after Diwali. According to Hindu religious beliefs, on this day Lord Mahadev had destroyed the demon named Tripurasura. It is said that on this day gods and goddesses come to earth from heaven and light lamps. On the day of Dev Diwali, bathing and donations are done in holy rivers. This year Dev Diwali will be celebrated on 05 November.
Dev Diwali is celebrated in a special way in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. On this day, the Ganga ghats are illuminated with lamps in the evening. Aarti of Mother Ganga and Deepotsav festival is celebrated at all the Ganga Ghats. Lord Vishnu and Shiva are worshiped on this day. Worship of Lord Vishnu and Shiva on this day is said to have great importance. Along with worship, there are some other special works which must be done on this day. By doing these things the poverty in the house goes away.
Dev should do this work on Diwali
bathe and worship
On the day of Dev Diwali, one should wake up early in the morning and take bath. Especially on the ghat of Varanasi. If this is not possible then one should take bath by mixing Ganga water in water at home. After this one should wear yellow colored clothes. After bathing, Ganga water should be sprinkled in the house. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu should be worshiped in the auspicious time in the evening. By doing this the house remains happy.
Offer Tulsi garland to Lord Vishnu and light a lamp.
While worshiping Lord Vishnu on the day of Dev Diwali, a garland made of 11 basil leaves should be offered to him. This brings blessings of Lord Shri Hari. A lamp should be lit on this day. It is believed that putting seven cloves in the lamp and lighting it on this day keeps poverty away from the house.
Worship and anoint Shivalinga
Shivalinga should be worshiped properly on the day of Dev Diwali. Shivalinga should be anointed with Ganga water and milk. Also, one should continuously chant Om Namah Shivay mantra. By doing this one gets relief from the effects of Rahu-Ketu.
