Deool Band 2 Targeted After Shah Rukh Khan Praise, Alleges Director Pravin Tarde

Deool Band 2 director Pravin Tarde recently shared how Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan helped him during a difficult phase marked by financial hardships. The film, which went on to become one of the highest-grossing Marathi movies of all time, was made on a small budget, and the makers did not have enough money to pay for a Digital Cinema Package (DCP). SRK’s Red Chillies handled the process, and when requested, the actor decided to waive off the Rs 42 lakh fee completely. After Tarde revealed this and praised King Khan for the gesture, his film was allegedly targeted with a negative campaign.

In a video on Instagram,  said that he had been travelling across Maharashtra, but no one seemed to notice him. He added that the moment he mentioned the name of a Bollywood star, everyone suddenly started paying attention. He further said that some people had earlier tried hard to stop the film, but they were unsuccessful, and questioned why it was now being opposed indirectly. He stated that the film had reached this point without the support of any big names or influential figures, as the efforts behind it had been honest and sincere, and he thanked everyone.

He also shared a line from a poem by Marathi writer Vinda Karandikar, which suggests that one’s stature does not grow by denying others their due and that credit should always be given to those who deserve it.

“Whether it’s Pitya (the character in the film) or Shah Rukh Khan, it doesn’t matter. If someone has helped you, you should be able to openly acknowledge it and appreciate them publicly,” concluded the filmmaker.

How SRK Saved Deool Band 2

For SRK, Deool Band 2‘s release was more important than his fee. According to Pravin, he told his team, “It’s a Marathi film. Give them the DCP. We can sort out the payments later. If it’s a good film, give them the DCP.”

Without this, the film would have never made it to theatres or created such a huge impact. Bringing the story of an anguished rural farmer, the movie is set to earn Rs 100 crore at the box office, a massive feat for Marathi cinema.

was theatrically released across India on May 21, 2026. It stars Mohan Joshi, Snehal Tarde, Mahesh Manjrekar and others in key roles.
