The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday reacted to the Sambhal violence report, calling the change in demography cited by the report a systematic conspiracy and a “deliberate attempt” to push the agenda of ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’.
The BJP added that there is a “rapid exodus” of Hindus occurring in Sambhal.
BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok, talking to IANS, said, “Sambhal is not just one isolated place-there are at least 200 such Sambhals across the country where democracy is being targeted, Hindus’ properties seized, people driven out, and systematic attempts made to establish a ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’. This is a deliberate, targeted move…”
Sensational claims have surfaced in the Sambhal violence report submitted to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by the judicial commission on Thursday. The report highlights a sharp demographic shift over the decades, noting a steady decline in the Hindu population alongside a significant rise in the Muslim population.
On Thursday (August 28, 2025), a three-member judicial commission led by retired Allahabad High Court judge Devendra Kumar Arora submitted its report on the November 2024 Sambhal violence to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The panel, comprising Justice (retd.) Arora, former IPS officer Arvind Kumar Jain, and former IAS officer Amit Mohan Prasad, handed over the findings regarding the clashes that broke out near the Shahi Jama Masjid on November 24 last year during an ASI-supervised survey of the mosque, which left four people dead and several others injured.
Meanwhile, commenting on the report, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma said questions need to be asked why were Hindus forced to migrate. “There are serious aspects in the report. Sambhal has witnessed multiple riots, leading to a rapid exodus. It is the government’s priority that Hindus and Muslims live together peacefully. But what were the reasons that forced people to flee? Why were several religious places destroyed? Why were people killed and why were atrocities committed against women?” he said.
Samajwadi Party leader S T Hasan stated, “If there is a change in demography, the reason isn’t always that people fled out of fear. Usually, people migrate for their livelihoods. They move to other cities, to bigger places like Delhi, Mumbai, and elsewhere for better opportunities. That is one reason…”
