Delhi’s Air Quality Improves Slightly As AQI Drops To ‘Poor’ At 270 After 16 Days Of ‘Very Poor’ Air | Check Area-Wise Data

Delhi AQI Today: Delhi’s average air quality showed slight improvement on Sunday morning, slipping into the ‘poor’ category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 270 at 6 AM according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The drop in air pollution levels comes after a prolonged spell of .The capital’s overall AQI settled at 305 on Saturday after logging 369 on Friday, 377 on Thursday, 327 on Wednesday, 352 on Tuesday, and 382 on Monday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Out of 38 monitoring stations in the national capital, only five monitoring stations reported air quality in the ‘very poor’ category, particularly Dilshad Garden, Jahangirpuri, Nehru Nagar, RK Puram and Shadipur.

Mandir Marg recorded the cleanest air in the city, registering a ‘moderate’ AQI of 157, according to CPCB’s Sameer App. According to officials, the marginal improvement in overall air quality is largely due to favourable wind patterns and a significant decline in stubble burning activity in neighbouring states.

Delhi AQI To Remain In ‘Very Poor’ Category

The AQI recorded on the morning of November 30 stands in contrast to the earlier forecast by the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, which had said that pollution levels would remain in the very poor category over the coming week, news agency PTI reported.

Mahesh Palawat, Vice President (Meteorology and Climate Change) at Skymet Weather, stated that air quality is still expected to stay in the very poor category over the next few days. “With wind speeds likely to remain on the higher side, the Air Quality Index (AQI) may not slip into the ‘severe’ category for at least the next two days,” Palawat said.

According to the Decision Support System of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, vehicular emissions accounted for 18.7 per cent of Delhi’s pollution on Saturday, PTI reported. The institution has further forecasted that vehicle-related emissions are likely to contribute around 18.6 per cent to the city’s pollution levels on Sunday.
