Delhi’s 3rd Ring Road To Open On THIS Date, To Boost NCR Connectivity With IGI Airport

UER-2 Opening Date: In a major relief for commuters, Delhi residents will soon be directly connected to the airport and the NCR via the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road (UER-2). A journey that currently takes around two hours will soon be completed in just 20 minutes. Commuters will enjoy faster, smoother, and more direct connectivity to the airport and major parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate both expressways in a grand ceremony to be held near Dwarka on August 16.

The launch of these two expressways is expected to transform travel within and beyond Delhi, easing congestion and drastically cutting travel times. Preparations are already underway for the inauguration, which will be attended by several prominent leaders including Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, alongside MPs and MLAs from across the NCR.

UER-2 Opening Date: Delhi Gets A New Ring Road

According to Jagran.com, Delhi is set to get a new ring road this month with the official opening of UER-2. This ambitious corridor will not only offer seamless access to Indira Gandhi International Airport from various corners of Delhi but also significantly improve travel to cities like Sonipat, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, Jind, Ambala, and Bahadurgarh.

The idea for the Urban Extension Road was announced three years ago by Nitin Gadkari, and it’s now on the verge of being opened to the public. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 8,000 crore, the expressway will have four to six lanes, designed for high-speed, uninterrupted traffic flow.

The Dwarka Expressway itself, which begins at Kherki Daula and ends at Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur, was partly inaugurated last year. The stretch has already halved the travel time from Manesar to the airport from nearly two hours to just 20–25 minutes.

– Dedicated 8-km road has been built to connect Bahadurgarh with UER-2 at Dichaon Kalan.

– UER-2 intersects the Delhi-Rohtak Highway at Mundka and connects to the Sonipat Highway at Bawana.

– The Dwarka Expressway also ties into the Gurugram-Sohna Highway, which feeds into the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

These routes will create a robust network that allows travellers from multiple cities including Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Panipat, and Gurugram to reach Palam Airport in time.
