Delhi weather today: Temperature to rise to 32 degrees C, AQI at 227; light rain alert in nearby districts

New Delhi: The national capital is set to witness mainly clear skies today (February 27), with light mist expected during the morning hours. The maximum temperature is forecast to hover between 30 degrees C and 32 degrees C, while the minimum is likely to remain between 13 degrees C and 15 degrees C.

Winds during the early morning hours (0530–1130 IST) are expected to blow from the southwest at 0–5 kmph. By afternoon (1130–1730 IST), the direction is likely to shift to northwest with speeds of 10–15 kmph. Similar wind conditions are expected to continue into the evening (1730–2330 IST).

At 6 am, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 227, placing it in the ‘poor’ category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies AQI into six categories: Good (0–50), Satisfactory (51–100), Moderate (101–200), Poor (201–300), Very Poor (301–400) and Severe (401–500).

Light rain in nearby districts

While Delhi itself is expected to remain dry, neighbouring areas could see brief spells of rain. Very light rainfall or drizzle is likely over Palwal in Haryana, Nandgaon and Barsana in Uttar Pradesh, and Khairthal in Rajasthan during the next two hours.

Light rain is also forecast in parts of Haryana including Mahendargarh, Rewari, Narnaul, Bawal, Nuh, Aurangabad and Hodal. In Uttar Pradesh, Jattari, Khair, Aligarh, Iglas, Raya and Mathura may receive light showers. Parts of Rajasthan such as Bhiwadi, Tizara, Khairthal and Kotputli could also witness rainfall.

Weather in Northwest India

In the past 24 hours, rain and thundershowers were recorded at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, while the rest of Northwest India remained largely dry. Gusty winds were reported in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorms were also observed in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh.
