Another spell of monsoon showers is expected to drench the national capital, Delhi and adjoining regions on Tuesday and Wednesday, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert forecasting light to moderate rain at most places in the city and heavy showers at some places.
It is also worth remembering that a yellow alert from IMD has been proved wrong many times previously. Many such alerts have failed to generate any rain in the capital and later got withdrawn or changed.
Light rain was recorded in parts of Delhi early on Monday. Cloudy weather with intermittent sunshine continued in Delhi throughout the day.
Maximum temperature of the day in the capital touched 31.6 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 26.8 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degree below normal. The humidity remained between 74 and 98 per cent, and the city recorded 7.2 mm rainfall.
Rain is predicted to continue in the national capital over the next three days. The city is likely to experience light to moderate rain on Thursday also. Thereafter, cloudy weather will continue over the next few days, but IMD has not predicted any heavy rainfall during this period. During this period, the maximum temperature is likely to remain between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius.
