Vaishno Devi Special Train: The duration of special trains 04081 and 04082 between New Delhi and Katra has been extended for the darshan of Maa Vaishno Devi in Chaitra Navratri 2026. This train, which will run from March 17 to March 31, will provide great relief to the devotees in tickets and travel.
Vaishno Devi Special Train: Every year lakhs of devotees reach Katra during Chaitra Navratri to have darshan of Maa Vaishno Devi. In view of this huge crowd, Jammu Division of Northern Railway has decided to extend the duration of the special train (04081/04082) running between New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra for the convenience of the devotees. This step of Railways will make it easier for passengers to get tickets and the journey during Navratri will become more comfortable.
Railway’s decision in view of increasing crowd during Navratri
According to the railway official, during Chaitra Navratri, a large number of devotees from all over the country reach Katra to have darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi. In such a situation, keeping in mind the increasing demand of passengers, Railways has decided to extend the services of Delhi-Katra special train, so that passengers can get adequate seats and the pressure of crowd can be reduced.
New Delhi-Katra special train will run for 14 trips
According to Railways, train number 04081 will run between New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra for a total of 14 trips. Earlier this train was being operated from 21 February to 8 March 2026, but now its services have been increased from 17 March to 30 March 2026. This will provide great relief to the devotees traveling during Chaitra Navratri.
Extra facility will be available from Katra to Delhi also
Similarly, train number 04082 will run for 14 trips between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi. This train was earlier running from 22 February to 9 March 2026, but now its duration has been increased from 18 March to 31 March 2026. With this, devotees making the return journey will also be able to get adequate seats.
100% seat booking in previous rounds
According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Utshi Singhal, Railways is always sensitive to the convenience of passengers and their demands. He said that 100 percent occupancy was recorded in the previous trips of this special train. For this reason, Railways has decided to extend the period of its operation.

Railway officials said that along with the devotees coming to visit Maa Vaishno Devi during Chaitra Navratri, the tourists visiting Kashmir will also benefit from this train. This will make it easier for passengers to get tickets and the journey will become more convenient. Railways has appealed to the passengers to check the train timetable on Railway Helpline 139 or NTES app before starting the journey.
