Delhi to Gurugram in 15 minutes! Modi govt plans signal-free corridors on these 3 key highways – Check details

Travel between Delhi and nearby areas like Gurugram may soon become much faster, as the government plans to make major highway stretches signal-free. The aim is to reduce traffic jams and improve daily commuting across Delhi-NCR.

The Ministry of Road Transport has said that important roads passing through Delhi will be upgraded so that vehicles can move smoothly without stopping at traffic signals.

Three key highway stretches to go signal-free

The project will focus on improving three major routes:

  • Ashram to Badarpur
  • Mehrauli to Gurugram
  • Punjabi Bagh to Tikri Border

These roads will be redesigned by building flyovers and removing traffic signals at busy intersections. This will help vehicles move continuously without long stops.

Travel time is likely to be reduced to just 15 mins

The government says these upgrades will sharply cut travel time across key routes in Delhi-NCR. The journey from Mehrauli to Gurugram, which currently takes around one to one-and-a-half hours due to heavy traffic, may be reduced to just 15 minutes after the improvements.

Similarly, traffic congestion on the Ashram to Badarpur stretch is expected to ease with the construction of three flyovers.

On the Punjabi Bagh to Tikri Border route, travel time could come down significantly from nearly 90 minutes to around 30 minutes, making daily commuting faster and smoother.

Kalindi Kunj to get major upgrade

Kalindi Kunj, one of the busiest traffic points in Delhi, will also see a major improvement. An interchange will be built here to manage traffic better and remove signal stops.

Officials say the design will be similar to the Dhaula Kuan interchange, as multiple roads meet at Kalindi Kunj, often causing heavy congestion.

Other highway projects in Delhi-NCR

The government also shared updates on other important road projects:

  • The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is expected to open fully within the next 8 to 10 days, reducing travel time to less than 2.5 hours.
  • A section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway between DND and Faridabad may open within the next six months.

What this means for commuters

If completed on time, these projects will make daily travel much easier for people in Delhi-NCR. Reduced traffic signals, smoother roads, and faster routes will help save time and reduce congestion across the city.
