Delhi Shocker: Man Slits Wife’s Throat, Then Walks Into Police Station With Children To Confess

Delhi News: A 26-year-old man in Seelampur allegedly murdered his wife on Saturday night and then walked into the local police station with his two young children to confess to the crime.

According to police, the accused, identified as Intezaar Ali, reached Seelampur police station around 3 AM and told officers that he had slit the throat of his wife, Chandni (26). He had also brought along his five-year-old daughter and four-year-old son.

Police officers immediately took Ali to his house in K-Block Seelampur, where they found Chandni lying in a pool of blood on the first floor. The knife used in the crime was recovered from the room.

Delhi Crime: Background Of The Couple

Investigations revealed that Ali, a rickshaw puller, was addicted to drugs and frequently fought with his wife. Family members of Chandni alleged that Ali would often demand money to buy drugs and when she refused, he would assault her. Relatives also claimed that other members of Ali’s family were involved in harassing Chandni.

The couple had been married for about six years and lived in a rented room with their two children. Chandni, besides taking care of the children, also did household work to support the family.

Delhi Crime: Motive Behind The Murder

Police said Ali doubted his wife’s character and regularly threatened to kill her. Investigations revealed that Chandni had purchased a new mobile phone only ten days earlier, which Ali suspected she was using to speak to someone else. Her phone has been seized for examination.

Chandni’s cousin, Iqrar, dismissed Ali’s suspicions as false and said the accused’s drug addiction was the real reason behind constant fights.

Police Statement

North-East Delhi DCP Ashish Mishra confirmed the arrest of Ali and said that the body had been sent for post-mortem. “The accused reached the police station on his own and admitted to the crime. We have recovered the weapon and further investigation is underway,” he said.
