Delhi Restaurant Viral Video: A shocking incident from Delhi’s Pitampura has sparked outrage online after a couple claimed they were denied entry into Tubata restaurant simply for wearing traditional Indian attire. In a video shared on X by the user @rose_k01, the man can be heard saying, “Aaj 3 August ko Pitampura Metro station ke neeche jo campus me Tubata restaurant hai wahan mai aur meri wife aaye the, humara dress code ye tha to unhone hume rok diya aur humare saamne hi jo log kam kapde me aaye the unhe andar jaane diya.”
The man who was recording the incident questions the staff whether they would refuse entry to the Chief Minister of Delhi, who is a woman and wears sarees. The woman, visibly upset, says, “Aapne humari nahi, Indian culture ki beizzati ki hai.” The post, captioned “See what is happening in Delhi restaurant Tubata in Pitampura. A couple was denied entry and not allowed to enter just because they were wearing Indian attire!”, has already been viewed over 3.53 lakh times.
The incident has triggered strong reactions on social media, with many slamming the restaurant for disrespecting Indian culture and questioning why Western outfits were allowed while traditional wear was not. Many also supported the restaurant, saying, these are private restaurants and have every right to decide who should come or not.
“This incident at Tubata restaurant in Pitampura, Delhi, where a couple was denied entry due to their attire, is deeply concerning. The woman’s traditional Indian outfit should not be a barrier to entry in any establishment in India,” added a third user. “Why are people defending the restaurant? According to Indian law, it would be illegal for the restaurant to deny entry to a woman wearing a Hijab or other types of Islamic attire. So why are you supporting this restaurant’s discrimination of this Hindu couple?” added another user.
