Delhi Red Fort blast: A shocking new CCTV footage has surfaced showing the exact moment the slow-moving white Hyundayi i20 car exploded near Delhi’s historic Red Fort on November 10, killing 12 people and injuring over 20 others. The footage shows the Hyundai i20 waiting at a traffic signal on Subhas Marg, a crowded stretch in Old Delhi, before it suddenly exploded at 6:52 pm, engulfing the area in flames and panic.
The powerful explosion occurred during peak evening hours, sending shockwaves across the country and triggering a high alert in the national capital. The blast site, close to one of India’s most iconic landmarks and the venue for the Prime Minister’s Independence Day address, was immediately cordoned off as rescue teams and forensic experts rushed to the spot.
Intelligence agencies have identified the suspected driver of the car as Dr Umar Un Nabi, an Assistant Professor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, Haryana.
Centre calls Red Fort blast ‘terror attack’
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday officially recognised the Red Fort explosion as a “terror attack”, marking the first such classification of the incident. A resolution passed by the Cabinet condemned the “dastardly and cowardly” act and called for a swift investigation.
“The country has witnessed a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces, through a car explosion near the Red Fort on the evening of November 10, 2025. The explosion resulted in multiple fatalities, and caused injuries to several others,” Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while reading the Cabinet resolution.
The statement further directed that the probe be conducted with “utmost urgency and professionalism” to ensure that the perpetrators, collaborators and sponsors are brought to justice. Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act. Multiple raids are underway to trace those behind the attack.
