However, amidst this light of happiness, pollution in Delhi again raised concerns. At around 11:35 pm, the air quality index reached dangerous levels in many areas. Experts have warned that breathing such air can prove to be extremely harmful to health.
Pollution reached dangerous level in Delhi
According to CPCB’s Sameer App, the air in many areas of Delhi has become very bad after Diwali. Air quality reached severe levels in four places, Dwarka, Ashok Vihar, Wazirpur and Anand Vihar, where AQI was recorded above 400. Of these, the level was found to be 417 in Dwarka, 404 in Ashok Vihar, 423 in Wazirpur and 404 in Anand Vihar. The air quality was in the very poor category in about 30 monitoring stations of Delhi, where AQI was more than 300. By afternoon, the air was found to be very poor at 31 out of 38 places, while at 3 places it was in the severe category.

Delhi’s air may deteriorate today
According to the Meteorological Department, the air in Delhi may worsen further on Tuesday and Wednesday and is likely to reach the severe category. Let us tell you that AQI level from 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is satisfactory, 101 to 200 is considered moderate, 201 to 300 is considered bad, 301 to 400 is considered ‘very bad’ and 401 to 500 is considered severe. The Supreme Court on October 15 had allowed the sale and use of green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR with certain conditions. The court had said that people can burst green firecrackers a day before Diwali and on the festival day from 6 am to 7 pm, and then from 8 pm to 10 pm.
