Delhi Police arrested 24-year-old thief Saurabh, who used to disguise himself as a woman to escape from CCTV. With his arrest, 10 theft cases have been solved. His partner Sumit is still absconding.
New Delhi: A strange theft case that took place in Delhi’s Mohan Garden has been solved. Police have arrested a 24 year old boy. He used to disguise himself as a woman to deceive the CCTV cameras. Accused Saurabh Kumar was caught by Dwarka Police after 2 weeks of efforts. This case started on 16 November. A resident of Mohan Garden returned home after staying out overnight and found that jewellery, watches and a handycam kept in the house were missing. He filed a case of theft.
‘Masked woman’ seen in CCTV, but there was a twist in the story
Officials examining the CCTV footage saw two people, a masked man and a masked woman, entering and exiting the house. But when authorities followed the pair across multiple cameras and locations for 14 days, they noticed something was wrong with the woman’s gait and body language. Then the suspicion deepened. That “woman” was not actually a woman at all.
Case solved with the help of technology and informers
DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said that local informers identified one of the accused as Saurabh Kumar. During investigation, it was revealed that he was active around Dabri and used to visit many places in Mohan Garden and Ranhola. Finally the police got information that Saurabh would come to Ambedkar Park in Uttam Nagar at around 6:30 pm. A trap was laid, he tried to escape, but after a short chase the police caught him.
Habitual criminal, accomplice still absconding
Police came to know that Saurabh had a criminal history. 2022 involving theft and an Arms Act case. During interrogation, he confessed that he and his associate Sumit were committing thefts in Dabri and Uttam Nagar. His arrest has helped solve 10 cases of theft and snatching in Dwarka district.

Police are now searching for his associate Sumit, who is still absconding.
