Tracing the nexus between militants and ISI agents in India, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested three terror suspects who were associated with the Pakistani spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), officials told ANI. The suspects who have been arrested were linked to ISI associate Shehzad Bhatti.
The suspects have been identified as Hargun Preet Singh from Punjab, Vikas Prajapati from Madhya Pradesh’s Datia, and Arif from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor.
“Special Cell of Delhi Police busted a module being led by a Pakistani national, Shahzad Bhatti, a gangster who is currently working at the behest of the Intelligence Agency of Pakistan. Three people have been arrested,” Pramod Kumar Kushwaha, Additional CP (Special Cell), said at a press conference.
“They recently threw a hand grenade in front of the Gurdaspur City Police Station on the 25th. He (Shahzad Bhatti) executed the attack, and these same boys were involved in the incident and have been arrested. Apart from this, there were many other places on their target where this group had done videography, recce, and they had planned to throw hand grenades,” he added.
The Delhi Police has been on constant vigil against the presence of such militants, and this is the second time in two months that they have been able to bust a Pakistan-based terror module that was planning to conduct a major attack in the country.
According to media reports, the mastermind was identified as Ashar Danish, who was nabbed from Jharkhand’s Ranchi. Two other suspects, Aftab and Sufiyan, residents of Mumbai, were arrested from the National Capital. Another suspect in the terror attack was arrested from Telangana.
The security forces in Delhi have tightened vigilance across the country and are conducting regular raids in various regions. On Saturday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that it had arrested an imam and one of his associates from Uttarakhand’s Haldwani.
Mohammad Asif, the accused who is believed to be the imam of Bilali Mosque, and Nazar Kamal, his associate, an electrician by profession, were arrested by the central probe agency on Friday night in connection with the Delhi blast. The four individuals captured earlier and accused in the Delhi blast-Muzammil Ganaje, Adeel Rather, Saheema Saeed, and Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay-were sent to 10-day judicial custody on Saturday.
