Delhi-NCR Rain: Downpour Ponders Region, Yellow Alert In Noida, Ghaziabad: Check IMD Forecast

Delhi Weather: Almost contrary to what we have been reading in the India Meteorological Department’s forecast, very heavy rainfall lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) in the early morning on Saturday, and it is expected to intensify in the coming hours. According to the IMD’s mausam.imd.gov.in website, thunderstorms with rainfall is expected in Delhi NCR while yellow alert has been sounded in Noida and Ghaziabad for thunderstorms and lightning. 

Earlier on Friday night, despite IMD not expecting heavy rainfall for the national capital, incessant monsoon rain caused waterlogging and severe traffic snarls at several places. The traffic bottleneck is expected to worsen due to the influx of crowds on Delhi’s road. Commuters have been advised to brace for delays on Rakshabandhan.

Visuals from across the city showed the downpour disrupted the traffic causing waterloggings.

Delhi Weather Forecast; Spells Of Rain On Wednesday, Thursday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms with rain in Delhi for Saturday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 27°C and the maximum around 36°C. The weather department has issued an alert for the rain on August 13 and 14. 

A low-pressure system is becoming active in the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall to eastern and southeastern states. According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is active over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the south Andhra Pradesh coast. Meanwhile, the monsoon trough is currently running through Firozpur, Patiala, Meerut, Bareilly, Lucknow, Varanasi, Daltonganj, and Bankura, extending southeastwards to the northeastern Bay of Bengal.

Delhi-NCR Weather Forecast

NCR cities, like Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad, are also bracing for a similar weather pattern as the weather department anticipates cloudy skies and thundery development toward the evening in all four cities. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning in Noida In Ghaziabad for Saturday, while the weather condition for coming days is likely to remain similar.
