What did the Rouse Avenue court say?

What were the changes in Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22?
Many major decisions were taken under this policy:
- closure of government liquor shops
- Allowing retail sales to private companies
- Lowering the legal drinking age from 25 to 21
- Increase in license fee from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 75 lakh
The government said that this would increase revenue. But the opposition accused it of corruption and favoritism.
How did the CBI investigation and controversy begin?
Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena had recommended an investigation into this policy. After this CBI registered a case and raided the premises of many AAP leaders. The agency had alleged that the “South Lobby” paid crores of rupees to change the policy in its favor. However, the court did not find sufficient evidence to support these claims.
Is the legal battle really over?
Although the acquittal in this case has brought great relief to AAP, the legal challenges have not ended completely. In some cases, Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation and issues related to bail are still under discussion.
What will be the impact on Delhi politics?
The Delhi Liquor Policy case had remained a major issue of national politics for a long time. After this decision of the court, the political atmosphere has intensified. Will this decision bring new political strength to AAP? Or will the opposition raise this issue further? At present it is clear that the decision of Rouse Avenue Court has given a new turn to the politics of Delhi. Its effect will be clearly visible in the coming days.
