Delhi Meerut Corridor: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat RRTS in Meerut, due to which the journey between Delhi-Meerut will now be completed in just 50 minutes. With the full operationalization of this 82 km long corridor, connectivity in NCR will improve.
Delhi Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat RRTS Inauguration: Today is a historic day for those traveling between Delhi and Meerut. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat RRTS in Shatabdi Nagar, Meerut today. Along with this, development projects worth about Rs 12,930 crore will also be gifted to the city. This event will mark the full operationalization of the 82 km long Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor and the launch of Meerut Metro. The special thing is that both the services will run together on the same infrastructure, which is happening for the first time in the country.
Namo Bharat RRTS: Travel will be superfast
With the launch of Namo Bharat RRTS, there will be a huge reduction in travel time between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. This will take approximately 50 minutes from Sarai Kale Khan to Shatabdi Nagar, approximately 54 minutes from Sarai Kale Khan to Begumpul and approximately 58 minutes from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram. Whereas the same journey by road would take 1.5 hours or more depending on the traffic, now this distance will be covered in less than an hour.
What will be the speed?
The top speed of this train will be 180 km per hour and operational speed will be 160 km per hour. This is India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), which will redefine intercity travel.
Routes and major stations
This 82 km corridor connects Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The 5 km stretch in Delhi will be from Sarai Kale Khan to New Ashok Nagar, the 21 km stretch in Meerut will be from Meerut South to Modipuram. Major stations are Sarai Kale Khan (multi-modal hub, rail and metro connectivity), Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul and Modipuram.

Meerut Metro: Superfast travel will be available even inside the city
Meerut Metro will also start from today between Meerut South and Modipuram. For the first time in the country, RRTS and Metro will be on the same track, which is a 21 km corridor. Meanwhile there are 12 stations. Travel time will be approximately 30 minutes. Its maximum operational speed will be around 120 km per hour. It is one of the fastest metro in India.
