New Delhi: The national capital city saw a tense scene unfold this afternoon as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made her first public appearance since an attack at her official residence on August 20. The incident occurred at a crowded event in Gandhinagar, where security concerns were heightened.
Reports indicate that a man began shouting slogans against the Chief Minister following a heated argument with local traders. Police acted swiftly, removing the individual from the venue. Gandhinagar MLA Arvind Singh Lovely was present on the stage alongside the Chief Minister, as was Union Minister Harsh Malhotra.
Entire Gandhinagar Market shut ahead of CM’s visit
Ahead of the event, authorities had preemptively closed the entire Gandhinagar Market to ensure security. Despite the disruption, Gupta addressed the crowd, expressing her pleasure at meeting residents in person.
“I am truly delighted to be among my brothers and sisters of Gandhinagar today,” Gupta said. “I want to give two gifts to the people here. First, we have entrusted my brother Arvind Singh Lovely with the responsibility of the entire Yamuna Par area and appointed him as Chairman of the Development Board. Before arriving, I issued the necessary orders. Secondly, whatever development work you wish to undertake in Yamuna Par, do not worry about the budget, we will sanction it.”
Gupta reassured the public of her determination, saying, “This sister of yours will neither stop nor fear. I will continue to struggle for you.”
