In a joint action by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Haryana Police, eight people were arrested in an operation conducted on November 10. Maulvi Ishtiaq, a religious preacher from Haryana’s Mewat, was detained after 2,500 kg of explosives were recovered from his rented house in Faridabad. During interrogation, he told that Delhi attacker Dr. Umar and his partner Dr. Muzammil Ganai had contacted him earlier this year. The Maulvi claimed that he was asked to store “fertilizer” at his house and in return a storage fee of Rs 2,500 was fixed per month. The Maulvi said that he was not concerned about the seriousness of the situation, rather his concern was about the outstanding rent of Ganai and Umar for the last six months.

How did Al Falah University become the hub of ‘white-collar’ network?

Investigation revealed that Al Falah University had become the center of this ‘white-collar’ terror module. A huge quantity of explosives were recovered from the Maulvi’s house on the information of Dr. Muzammil Ganai, the main member arrested from the University. Police said the Maulvi contacted the National Investigation Agency, Srinagar Police and central agencies to recover the outstanding rent. During interrogation, Ganai supported the Maulvi’s story, which further took the investigation into the case.

Explosion near Red Fort and DNA revealed

Hours later, a slow-moving Hyundai i20 exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort. 15 people were killed in this. During investigation, DNA test revealed that the i20 was being driven by Dr. Umar. This development makes clear the seriousness of this ‘white-collar’ network.
