Delhi: ‘Best friends’ fatally stab each other to death after row

New Delhi: A close friendship between two men in West Delhi’s Khayala neighbourhood ended in tragedy on Sunday after both of them fatally stabbed each other during an argument.

The victims, identified as Sandeep and Arif, were lifelong friends in B‑Block of Khayala Colony. Neighbours often remarked on their inseparable bond, frequently witnessing the pair spending time together, attended by their wives and children. However, beneath this deep companionship, tensions reportedly brewed.

On Sunday afternoon, the two met at a nearby park in the colony. An argument took place between them and reports suggest the disagreement turned unexpectedly violent, with both men stabbing with knives, said a Times of India report. The duo collapsed and died at the scene.

Local residents recall witnessing the incident’s aftermath. “They were like brothers,” said one neighbour requesting anonymity. “You’d see them together all the time-laughing, talking, always side by side.” The stunned community is now grappling with how such devoted friends could turn on each other so violently.

Responding swiftly, the Tilak Nagar Police cordoned off the park. The bodies were taken to the DDU Hospital for post-mortem examinations late Sunday night. Police confirmed they are investigating the case and have launched formal inquiries. Police have also appealed to anyone who witnessed the argument or knows of any prior disputes to come forward. The cause of brawl is still not known.

Neighbours of the victims remain in deep shock, especially their wives and children whose lives have been devastated. As of now, no arrests have been made. The police are collecting CCTV footage and witness statements to reconstruct the scene that led to this fatal incident.
