Defense relations between India and Israel will become stronger, MoU signed before PM Modi’s visit

India and Israel have signed an MoU ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel later this month. Both the countries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen defense relations. The Directorate of International Defense Cooperation under the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) organized meetings between the major defense companies of India and Israel, after which the MoU was signed. IMOD said that SIBAT, in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM) and the Ministry of Defense of India, organized a seminar and B2B meetings between major defense companies of India and Israel this week.

The Ministry of Defense (IMOD) statement said the seminar was led by SIBAT Director Brigadier General (Retd) Yair Kulas. Its objective was to bring together small, medium and large defense companies of Israel and India and have meaningful discussions so that they can better understand India’s defense industry system and its DAP 2026. The statement further said that representatives of 30 Indian and 26 Israeli defense companies participated in this program.

Will support each other in difficult times

The Indian delegation was led by SIDM Director General Ramesh K. It also included India’s Ambassador to Israel JP Singh and India’s Defense Attaché in Israel, Group Captain Vijay Patil. The statement said that both sides expressed commitment to take forward mutual dialogue and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the two defense industries, which have stood together in difficult times.

IMOD said that this strategic seminar takes forward the vision of Major General (Retd) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, which aims to increase Israel’s defense exports and strengthen strategic partnerships with important countries. This event is taking place after the JWG meeting held in November last year, when both the countries had signed an important agreement to enhance defence, industrial and technological cooperation, thereby promoting co-development and co-production and enabling advanced sharing. PM Modi will reach Israel on February 25 on a two-day visit. It is likely that during their meeting they will discuss all the important issues related to the two countries and regional interests.
