Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved doubling the assistance provided to ex-servicemen and their dependents. Now the beneficiaries will get Rs 8 thousand every month. The assistance provided for education and marriage has also been doubled.

Ex-Servicemen Welfare: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has given a big Diwali gift to ex-servicemen and their dependents. He has approved 100 percent increase in the financial assistance provided by the government to ex-servicemen and their dependents. This help is given under the schemes run by the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Department through the Kendriya Sainik Board.

Ex-servicemen will get Rs 8000 every month instead of Rs 4000.

The central government has doubled the poverty grant. Now ex-servicemen and their dependents will get Rs 4000 to Rs 8000 every month. This assistance is provided to senior citizens above 65 years of age and non-pensionable ex-servicemen and their widows who do not have any regular income. This assistance is given throughout life.

Education grant for widows with 2 dependent children (from Class 1 to graduation) or pursuing a 2-year post graduate course has been increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 per month per person.

Marriage grant of Rs 1 lakh per beneficiary will be given.

The Central Government has increased the marriage grant per beneficiary from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 1 lakh. This grant is given to maximum two daughters of ex-servicemen and widow remarriage. The revised rates will be applicable to applications submitted after November 1, 2025. Due to this, additional expenditure of Rs 257 crore will be incurred every year.

Money for these schemes is given through the Defense Minister Ex-Servicemen Welfare Fund. It is a sub-section of the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF).
