Defecating on edge of 18th floor, Mumbai man falls to death in Wadala

Mumbai: A 52-year-old man died in a tragic accident after falling from the 18th floor of a residential tower in central Mumbai on Sunday morning, reported news agency PTI. The incident took place at Matoshree Sadan, a high-rise apartment complex located in Wadala. The man, who lived in the building, had reportedly been suffering from a severe case of dysentery for several days. He had gone up to the top floor when he was suddenly overwhelmed by the urge to relieve himself.

In a desperate attempt to manage the situation discreetly, he is believed to have squatted near the edge of a service shaft located next to the lift. Unfortunately, he lost his balance and fell into the shaft, plummeting several floors to the ground below, as per the report published by PTI.

Rushed to hospital, declared ‘dead on arrival’

Emergency services were alerted immediately. Fire brigade personnel worked alongside local police to recover the man from the base of the shaft. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police at the RAK Marg station have registered an Accidental Death Report and have launched an investigation to piece together the circumstances that led to the fatal fall.
