New Delhi: On back of a solid performance in the ongoing ODI series against England, India’s Deepti Sharma made a big gain in the latest ICC rankings released on Tuesday. Deepti jumped 10 places to occupy the 23rd spot in the batters list while her teammate Smriti Mandhana maintained her top spot in the rankings.
Not only the players from the Indian team, some of the English players also made significant jumps in the ODI player rankings after strong performances in the opening two ODIs of the series. Meanwhile, Deepti was one of the biggest gainer in the batting rankings after she slammed an unbeaten 62-run knock in the opening ODI, guiding her team to a win and followed it up with another 30-run knock in 2nd ODI.
Mandhana solid on number one
After registering scores of 28 and 42 in the first and second match respectively, Smriti Mandhana remained static at the number one position maintaining her rating of 727 points. On the other hand, skipper Harmanpreet slipped five places toc occupy the 21st spot after scores of 17 and 7.
For the English players, Sophia Dunkley earned a massive jump of 24 places to sit on the 52nd spot while Alice Davidson-Richards surged 40 places to occupy the 118th position. Dunkley played a sensational knock of 83 runs in 92 balls while Alice contributed with score of 53 runs in the same game.
In the bowlers rankings, Sophie Ecclestone maintained her position at the top spot with four wickets in the series thus far, playing a pivotal role in the second match scalping three wickets while giving away just 27 runs.
In the spinners, India’s Sneh Rana and England’s Charlie Dean made big jumps in the rankings respectively. Dean broke into the top 10 climbing two spots to hold number 9 while Rana jumped 12 places to reach the number 21 rank. Both the players achieved their career best rating of 625 and 515 respectively.
