Ramnagari lit up with 26,17,215 lamps in Ayodhya Deepotsav 2025. Yogi Sarkar made two Guinness World Records in Saryu Aarti and lamp lighting. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pulled the chariot after worshiping Ramlala.
Ayodhya, 19 October. The beauty of Ramnagari Ayodhya on Sunday evening was such that it is difficult to describe in words. In Deepotsav 2025, when the entire city was illuminated with the lights of 26,17,215 (26 lakh, 17 thousand, 215) lamps, the scene became amazing, supernatural and unforgettable.
Devotees, tourists and local residents from India and abroad all witnessed this historic moment in the city of Shri Ram. Shouts of “Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram”, “Jai Siya Ram” and “Siyavar Ramchandra ki Jai” echoed in every direction.
Saryu Tere Ocean of Lights
When lakhs of lamps lit up on the banks of Saryu (Ram ki Paadi), it seemed as if Saryu Mother herself danced to welcome ‘her Ram’. There was joy on the faces of every devotee. This occasion was even more special, because this festival of lights was the second festival of lights after Lord Shri Ram’s enthronement in the grand temple (22 January 2024).
Yogi government made two new world records
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deepotsav 2025 created two world records-
- Lighting of 26,17,215 lamps, which is now recorded in the Guinness World Record.
- Saryu Aarti performed simultaneously by 2128 Vedacharyas, which created a new religious record.
As soon as the representative of Guinness Book of World Records made the announcement, the entire atmosphere echoed with cheers. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was seen smiling with satisfaction and pride by raising both his hands and showing respect.
Lights lit at 56 ghats, 32 thousand volunteers involved
On the call of the Chief Minister, lamps were lit at 56 ghats, temples, ashrams, houses and intersections of Ayodhya. More than 32,000 volunteers from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University and other colleges did the work, from filling oil-wicks to lighting lamps. Visitors from India and abroad were overwhelmed with emotion after seeing the grand, clean and divine Ayodhya and described it as “heaven on earth”.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath worshiped Shri Ram and coronated him
At Ramkatha Park, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with his cabinet performed the aarti of Shri Ram, Sita, Laxman, Bharat, Shatrughan and Hanuman ji. On the stage, he performed the symbolic coronation of Shri Ram along with the saints. During this, devotional songs like “Ram Aaye Awadh Ki Ore Sajni…” filled the atmosphere with emotions.
The scene of flower shower and chariot pulling was emotional.
Flowers were showered from the helicopter when Ram, Lakshman and Sita landed from the Pushpak Viman. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself demonstrated his faith by pulling the chariot. Seeing this scene, the eyes of the saints and devotees became emotional.
Many prominent saints including Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj, Champat Rai, Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Jaiveer Singh, Rakesh Sachan, Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi and other public representatives were present on the occasion.
Yogi Adityanath started his address with ‘Jai Siyaram’
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath started his address with “Siyawar Ramchandra Bhagwan ki Jai”. He said that in 2017, the Deepotsav started with 1.71 lakh lamps, while in 2025 this number will cross 26 lakh. He also concluded with “Jai Jai Shri Ram”.
He said that this event is a living example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “One India, Best India”.
Awadhpuri decorated with supernatural: a city bathed in flowers and lights
It was as if the Ayodhya of Tretayuga came alive again in Kaliyuga. Arches at the main gates, lakhs of flower decorations on roads and temples, and rangolis added to the beauty. Artists from Russia, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia presented scenes of Ramlila in the procession of 22 tableaux that came out in the morning. A total of more than 2000 artists showed the confluence of folk culture and devotion.
2128 Vedacharyas participated in Saryu Aarti
During the Deepotsav, 2128 Vedacharyas and Archakas together performed the Aarti of Saryu Maiya. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also participated in the aarti and lit the lamp on the banks of Saryu. Representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records certified Aarti as a record.
1100 indigenous drone show: A glimpse of Ramayana decorated in the sky
The drone show held for the second time in Deepotsav 2025 was the center of attraction for the people. The life story of Shri Ram and incidents from Ramayana were shown in the sky through 1100 indigenous drones. The audience became emotional after watching every scene.
CM Yogi lit lamps in Shri Ram temple
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Shri Ram Temple and offered prayers. They lit lamps at the feet of Ramlala, performed aarti and circumambulated the temple. Champat Rai, Dr. Anil Mishra, Vedprakash Gupt, Amit Singh Chauhan and many other prominent people were present on this occasion.
Unforgettable Deepotsav, Unique Ayodhya
Deepotsav 2025 filled the soul of Ayodhya with a sense of devotion, pride and unity. From the banks of Saryu to the Ram temple, devotion was flickering in every lamp and worship of Shri Ram in every heart. It became not just a festival but a golden symbol of India’s faith, culture and unity.
