The burqa controversy took a horrifying form in Kandhla area of Shamli. A man killed his wife and two minor daughters and buried their bodies in a septic tank built in the courtyard of the house. Ten days later the truth came out and the accused was arrested.
Shamli. The horrifying story that was buried within the walls of the house stunned the entire area. This incident that came to light in Shamli has put relationships, trust and humanity to shame. Considering not wearing a burqa as an “insult”, a husband brutally murdered his wife and two minor daughters and buried the bodies of all three in a septic tank built in the courtyard of the house.
Where there should have been peace, a conspiracy of death was hatched.
This sensational case is of village Garhi Daulat of Kandhla police station area. Village resident Farooq, who worked as a bread maker in a hotel, lived with his family in a separate house from his father and brothers. This house, which looked normal from outside, was hiding a dreadful secret from inside.

Burqa became the reason for daily fights
Police investigation revealed that Farooq used to pressurize his wife Tahira and daughters Afreen (16) and Sahreen (14) to wear burqa and remain veiled. Tahira did not agree with this thinking. There used to be constant tension and fights between husband and wife regarding this issue. Farooq started considering it as his social disgrace.

First the gun, then the septic tank, the conspiracy is already ready.
Deep in anger and fanaticism, Farooq had already made a complete plan for the murder. He purchased illegal pistol and cartridges from Kairana and got a septic tank dug in the courtyard of the house. During this time, wife Tahira had gone to her parents’ house, which he called back on some pretext.
Woke up on the pretext of tea, ended his life with a bullet
On the night of 8 December, Farooq woke up Tahira on the pretext of tea and shot her dead. Hearing the sound of the bullet, both the daughters woke up from their sleep, but the father’s heart still did not melt.
Brutality wreaks havoc on daughters too
First Farooq shot elder daughter Afreen, then strangled younger daughter Sahreen and took her life. The screams of the mother and daughters were buried in the same house where they should have been safest.
Dead bodies in the ground, lies on tongues
After the three murders, Farooq put the dead bodies in a septic tank and filled it with soil. After this he kept misleading the family and relatives by saying that his wife and children were living in a rented house in Shamli.
10 days of silence revealed a horrifying secret
No trace of the women and girls was found for about ten days. Eventually the family became suspicious and informed the police. During the investigation, suspicion on her husband deepened and after strict interrogation, Farooq broke down.
Confessed to crime during interrogation, dead bodies found in tank
The accused confessed his crime before the police. On his behest, the septic tank was excavated from where the bodies of Tahira and her two minor daughters were recovered.
Police statement and further action
Senior Superintendent of Police NP Singh said that information about the missing of the woman and two girls was received from the village head. During investigation, husband Farooq confessed to the murder. The accused has been arrested and strict legal action is being taken in the case.
