A sensational case has come to light on Valentine’s Day in Georgetown area of Sangam city Prayagraj. 17 year old Ashutosh Giri alias Aman, resident of Fatehpur Bichua, committed suicide by hanging himself due to his girlfriend’s behavior and harassment.
Ashutosh was a 12th class student and was preparing for NDA. Police also found a suicide note from his room.
In the letter found from Ashutosh’s room, the student had written – Dear Ashutosh, I know that I love you very much, but now I cannot live with you. I’m sorry, you die, it doesn’t matter to me. It is being told that the student was keeping distance from Ashutosh for some time and was mentally harassing him. When Ashutosh’s body was found hanging on Saturday morning, there was chaos in the family.
Extortion and conspiracy charges
The deceased’s father Vinod Kumar is posted in Giri Home Guard. He has made serious allegations in the complaint given to the police. He told that the student and her friends not only exploited Ashutosh mentally but also financially. Four days before the incident, some boys had beaten Ashutosh and also snatched his mobile. Family members allege that this mobile was snatched by the student’s new boyfriend so that the evidence of old relationships and chats could be erased.
Ruckus and chaos of family members
Angered by the incident, family members and local people blocked the Balsan intersection by placing the dead body on Saturday evening. The protesters demanded that all the six named accused be arrested immediately. During this, there was a heated argument with the police. After the assurance of Georgetown police station in-charge Rohit Tiwari that the accused would be arrested soon, the family members left the road and the last rites were performed late in the evening.

The Georgetown police have registered a case against six people, including the student, her roommate and her new boyfriend, under sections of extortion, intimidation and abetment of suicide. The main accused student is being detained and interrogated, while police teams are conducting raids in search of other absconding accused.
