New Delhi: Preparations are underway to increase India’s arms exports to a record level. On Sunday, the export order of Pinaka Rocket System was sent from the Nagpur plant. Pinaka is India’s multi-barrel rocket system. Its range and accuracy are its specialties. Many countries of the world are showing interest in this indigenous rocket system of India. The specialty of Pinaka is that it can fire 72 rockets in 44 seconds. Its range is also quite different. It can accurately hit targets up to 40 km away. At present, work is going on to increase its range to 120 kilometers. These Pinaka rockets have been produced under the Solar Defense and Aerospace Project.

Pinaka Rocket System is a glimpse of India’s indigenous weapons power. Due to its ability to fire 72 rockets in 44 seconds, it does not even give the enemies a chance to breathe during the attack. Now India has given these rocket launchers to Armenia. India has now become not just an importer of arms but also one of the exporter countries. 10 years ago India’s arms exports were less than Rs 1000 crore. Today the same export has reached Rs 24 thousand crores.

Range increasing year after year

After successful trials in April 2022, the Indian Army inducted the latest version of Pinaka, MK-I, into its fleet. Initially, Pinaka had a range of 37.5 kilometres. But with time, the range of this system increased. The Indian Army will now induct Pinaka rockets with a new range of 120 km. The 120 km range was successfully tested in December 2025. A launcher that can fire rockets at a distance of 40 and 75 km is already present. The experiment of firing rockets with a range of 120 km from the same launcher has also been successful.

How many crores worth deal with Armenia?

In September 2022, Armenia signed a Rs 2,000 crore deal with India for four battery Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers. This includes anti-tank rockets, ammunition and other equipment. After Armenia’s purchase, now France has also shown interest in Pinaka.

Why was Pinaka given to Armenia?

There is also a reason for India giving Pinaka rocket launcher to Armenia. Actually, Armenia’s neighboring country Azerbaijan had supported Pakistan. Azerbaijan has a border dispute with Armenia. To defeat Azerbaijan, it is necessary to strengthen the army of Armenia. That is why India has exported rocket launchers to Armenia.
