Actor Varun Dhawan has revealed that his daughter Lara has a disease called Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH). Due to this disease, there was imbalance in his legs, which made it difficult to walk and run.
Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) occurs when the child’s hip joint does not form properly, causing the hip to move out of place. If it is not treated on time, there may be a difference in the length of the legs and there may be difficulty in walking. Varun told that in many countries its treatment is available from birth, but awareness and early detection is very important. He stressed that the disease is curable, especially if it is detected early.
The actor said that Lara did not need surgery because doctors corrected the problem with a procedure. However, she had to remain in a spica cast for several weeks, which she described as a difficult time for the family. He also said that this incident was so big that he is thinking of writing a book on it, so that other people can understand this disease better.
Dhawan said that he wants to raise awareness among parents by talking about Lara’s condition. He advised them to always keep an eye on their children’s actions and visit a pediatrician (children’s doctor) if they notice anything strange. She also clarified that she is not looking for anyone’s sympathy, rather she believes that sharing her story will promote earlier detection and better understanding of DDH in India. Varun and Natasha Dalal became Lara’s parents in 2024. The actor has already told that after becoming a father, he has become more emotionally aware.
