DC vs MI IPL 2025: The Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel was seen attempting a stunning fielding attempt in their IPL 2025 clash against MI at their backyard on Sunday.
In their first innings, Axar Patel, who was standing near the boundary ropes as Naman Dhir had smashed one flying straight shot in Mitchell Starc’s over.
Axar, who stood a little bit towards the left, was seen running to take the catch. He used both his hands to catch the ball but the momentum forced him to leave the ball as he then fell near the boundary ropes. But his brilliant fielding efforts helped the hosts to stop MI from scoring six runs.
The Hardik Pandya-led side posted a mammoth target of 205 runs on the back of Tilak Varma’s gritty knock of 59 runs off 39 balls along with other batters making significant contributions like Ryan Rickelton (41) and Suryakumar Yadav (40).
As far as the DC bowlers are concerned, spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam took four wickets amongst them and conceded 64 runs after bowling in eight overs. They achieved a huge milestone considering they bowled on a batting-friendly pitch. They took advantage of the surface and dismissed batters while bowling with risks. Vipraj, who had dismissed Virat Kohli during their last match, had dismissed Rohit Sharma during their ongoing match against MI while bowling a cheeky googly, which had hit him before the pad as the MI opener tried to play the slog sweep.
The Axar Patel-led side had a dream start to their campaign as they had won four consecutive matches till now. They have won both home and away matches and will aim to repeat their heroics in Delhi to qualify for the playoffs. The batters would be tested during the second innings and even though they are playing without the services of Faf Du Plessis, they do boast of a formidable batting lineup that can chase down any total comprehensively.
