Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise’s fans had been eagerly waiting for an update ever since reports of a Days Of Thunder sequel surfaced online. Paramount had confirmed that the actor would be returning to the racetrack. While there had been speculation that actress Nicole Kidman would be reprising her role as Dr Claire Lewicki, the team has finally confirmed its female lead. Actress Anne Hathaway, fresh off the success of The Odyssey and The End of Oak Street, is all set to star in Days Of Thunder 2 alongside Tom. The mom-to-be has confirmed that she will begin shooting for the film after giving birth to her third child. It is expected to release in summer 2028.
Days Of Thunder 2 To Star Anne Hathaway Opposite Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway’s Days Of Thunder 2 is coming in Summer 2028! The makers announced the update with a clip featuring the actors.
In the fun announcement video, Cruise jokingly appeared to struggle with turning on his camera before saying, “I think it’s on. Annie? It looks on to me, don’t you think?” Hathaway, wearing a cowboy hat, joined the actor and posed in front of a race car featuring the film’s logo and release date.
“Now what?” he asked. “Now what?!” Anne parroted and added, “Let’s make the movie, now what.” The pregnant actress then revealed, “I’m gonna have this baby and then we’re gonna make this movie.” Cruise agreed with her and announced, “We’re coming out summer of 2028. Don’t be late.”
Hathaway playfully questioned the announcement, asking, “Are you sure you wanna go with that?” However, Cruise seemed unsure himself. “I don’t know, I’m trying,” he replied and they both burst out laughing.

The update, however, received mixed reactions. While fans are thrilled to see Tom return as the iconic racer, Hathaway’s casting has not gone down well with a section of the internet. Many have urged the makers to bring back Kidman.
But a fan wrote, “This is so damn exciting. Two extremely talented world class actors finally working together, to bring back an absolute classic, nostalgia rich title to the big screen.” Another gushed, “Legends! Terrific Twos!”
