This seat has been continuously held by RJD since 2005 and the current MLA is Lalit Kumar Yadav. Lalit Yadav has been continuously winning from here and had to face defeat only in the February 2005 elections from JDU’s Prabhakar Choudhary. - Pradeep Kumar Thakur (LJP) -17,605 votes

Note: RJD leader Lalit Kumar Yadav has studied till post graduate. There is a case against him. His total movable and immovable assets are Rs 17.52 crore but he also has a loan of Rs 2.35 crore.

Political history of Darbhanga rural
In 1977, when this seat came into existence under the name Manigachhi, Jagdish Chaudhary of Janata Party became the winner from here. After this, Congress, Janata Dal and JDU won here, but from 2005 this seat became the stronghold of RJD. Lalit Kumar Yadav has won all the elections except 2005 and now he has scored a hat-trick of consecutive victories from here.
