Danilo Petrucci secures another podium and climbs to third in the standings: ‘I really wanted to be on the podium again’

Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) secured another podium finish at Most, taking third place in Race 2 after matching the result in both the Superpole Race and Race 1. His consistency over the weekend has elevated him to third in the championship standings.

‘I really wanted to be on the podium again but it was tough because Sam was really fast’, said the Italian, referring to his battle with Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team). For most of the race, the two ran identical paces, but Petrucci kept close, waiting for his opportunity.

‘I told myself, «I want that podium». He made one small mistake and I was there to take advantage’, he explained. Calm and calculated, ‘Petrux’ claimed his 17th WorldSBK podium.

‘Congratulations to him, and also to Nicolò and Toprak, because they’re doing an incredible job. I’m really happy with the work my crew is doing’, he added. ‘It’s been a weekend of third place finishes for me but we’re in the fight, and I’m very happy.’

Petrucci now sits third in the standings, five points ahead of Álvaro Bautista. A solid performance that keeps him in the running for a top-three finish come season’s end.
