TV actress Dalljiet Kaur is making headlines for her personal life. Dalljiet, who is best known for shows, Kulvaddhu and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, has gone through many ups and downs in her personal life. For the unversed, she has been married twice, and both of the marriages led to highly publicised divorces. Her first marriage to actor Shalin Bhanot ended in 2015, and later her marriage to Kenya-based businessman Nikhil Patel ended in 2024. In a recent interview, Dalljiet got candid about the concept of love.
Dalljiet Kaur reveals how the concept of love has changed for her
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Dalljiet revealed that she doesn’t want to fall in love with anyone now. According to her, love is underrated. The Nach Baliye 4 winner shared that 15-20 years down the line, when she will be 60 or 70, things might change. Dalljiet explained that the young generation is more sensible when it comes to love and relationships. In her words:
“I don’t want to be in love with anyone. Love itna underrated hai. Ho sakta hai 15-20 saal baad, mai 60-70 ki ho jau shayad. Iss waqt love maine itne frivolous tareekon se dekha h ki kya matlab aap 45-46 ke ho aur aapko ladkiyan…matlab aap dhoom dhaam se leke gye and waha aap dusri ladki ke chakkar me ho. The young generation is actually more sensible. Kyunki jo hamari generation hai wo unfortunately galat raise ki gayi hai. Unko hmesha ye bola gaya ki are aap to mard ho, aap to sher ho. Ye rubbish me bada kar kar ke unko actually galat fehmi ho gayi ki wo sher hai.”
Dalljiet mentioned that love, family, romance and relationships are a frivolous thing to her. She highlighted that a relationship stands on humanity and respect. She said, “Mujhe itna frivolous lagne lag gaya hai ye pyaar mohabbat, love, family, and all. Insaaniyat pahle lao table par, respect lao table par phir baat karo.”

crossed paths on the sets of Kulvaddhu. They tied the knot in 2009. The former pair completed their family by welcoming their son, Jaydon, in 2014. The marriage was a rollercoaster ride for Dalljiet. Speaking about what went wrong in their marriage, Dalljiet shared that trouble in her marriage began the day after their wedding when Shalin’s mom stopped talking to her as she was unhappy about the wedding gifts. Dalljiet was quoted as saying:
“Trouble in our marriage started the day after our wedding when my mother-in-law stopped talking to me because she wasn’t happy with the wedding gifts. Status-wise, we are very different, and they always knew about it. My father has three daughters and couldn’t afford the kind of wedding they expected.”
Earlier, in an interview with TOI, Shalin Bhanot opened up about his broken marriage to Dalljiet. Shalin denied the reports claiming that he cheated on Dalljiet and physically abused her for dowry. He also talked about his when he stayed beside Dalljiet as she gave birth to their child. In his words:
“She is a retired army officer’s daughter. So, why would I marry someone who wasn’t financially very strong if I wanted dowry? I didn’t ask for a penny during our wedding. I have never cheated on her, and there has been no physical abuse. Dalljiet said that I wasn’t there for our son. On the contrary, he took his first steps with me, and I have a video of it. I remember holding my wife’s hand through her C-section; I was with her throughout. It is painful to be accused of not being there for them.”
