Lakshmi Manchu’s film Daksha which hit the theatres on September 19, is now set to stream online. The actress took to social media to share the OTT release details of the crime thriller.
Daksha On OTT: Lakshmi Manchu’s Film With Father Mohan Babu To Stream On This Platform
Taking to her Instagram handle, Lakshmi Manchu shared a new poster for the digital release. She wrote, “Happy Diwali to all of us.” The film is set to release on Amazon Prime on October 17.
In the film, Lakshmi Manchu plays the role of CI Daksha, a focused and fearless police officer investigating the suspicious death of a person at a container yard in Hyderabad. During her findings, another murder occurs, which is of a representative from an American pharma company. With similar links to both incidents, Daksha begins to suspect larger criminal network. Cast of Daksha features Samuthirakani, Rangasthalam Mahesh, Viswanth Duddumpudi, in pivotal roles. Veteran actor Mohan Babu, father of Lakshmi Manchu who produces the film, also makes a special guest appearance.
Apart from work, Lakshmi Manchu has taken a strong case against a senior journalist for allegedly making body-shaming and ageist remarks during a recent interview. The journalist commented on Lakshmi’s clothing choices, suggesting they were inappropriate for a woman who is a mother, and that it isn’t right for someone to wear in her 40s.
According to a news report by Cinemaexpress, Lakshmi said “India is a country that reveres women as Shakti, yet when we step into professional spaces, we are subjected to casual misogyny, humiliation, and disrespect. This cannot continue. I owe it not only to myself but to the many young women who look up to me to call this out.”
