Government employees are always eagerly waiting for increase in their allowance (Dearness Allowance). At present, the eyes of the entire country are fixed on the announcement of the Central Government, but in the meantime, a state government has won by giving huge relief to its employees. While central employees are still waiting for their DA hike, the Telangana government has opened the treasury for its state road transport corporation (TGSRTC) employees. This one decision of the government has brought a wave of happiness among thousands of families.
Lottery held for 38 thousand employees of Telangana
Making an important announcement on Friday, the Telangana government has directly increased the dearness allowance of TGSRTC employees by 2.1 percent. After this spectacular increase, now the total dearness allowance of these transport employees has jumped from 50.7 percent to 52.8 percent. Giving information about this decision, State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that this step of the government will provide direct financial benefit to more than 38,000 employees working in the corporation. Due to this increase in allowance, there will be a significant difference in the take-home salary of the employees.
When will I get the increased money?
Let us tell you that the government has made it effective from the previous date i.e. January 1, 2026. This means that the employees will also get the arrears of the last few months. However, this 2.1 percent increase means that there will be an additional financial burden of Rs 2.82 crore every month on the TGSRTC exchequer. Since this is a huge amount, the government has made a wise plan to maintain the smooth cash flow of the corporation. After an internal meeting, the minister clarified that whatever arrears arise for the last three months will not be paid in lump sum, but will be paid gradually through supplementary bills for the next three months. With this, there will be no sudden financial pressure on the corporation and the employees will also get their rights.
Relief was given last year also, now there is no arrears
Let us tell you that this is not the first time that the state government has taken care of the employees. Earlier in July 2025 also, the government had increased DA by 2.1 percent, when this figure had increased from 48.6 percent to 50.7 percent. The officials have also made it clear that after the implementation of RPS-2017 in May 2024, no old DA arrears of the employees are now pending with the corporation. This is a positive sign in terms of financial discipline.
When will the good news come to the accounts of central employees?
On one hand, the employees of Telangana are rejoicing, while on the other hand, lakhs of central employees are still eagerly waiting for the announcement of increase in their dearness allowance. The situation is such that many employee organizations have written a letter directly to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman requesting her to announce the DA increase as soon as possible.
If we look at the trend of the last few years, orders usually come in the early weeks of March or April. For example, in the year 2025, the announcement was made on March 28 and the official order was issued on April 2. In 2024 also this order came on 3rd April. Even during those difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the allowance had to be frozen for some time, the government had issued its formal order in April 2020 itself.
