Before Holi, BJP government has given a big gift to government employees and pensioners. The government has increased DA and DR by up to 3%. That means government employees will get increased dearness allowance and pensioners will get increased dearness relief.
Mohan Yadav government of Madhya Pradesh has made this announcement. CM Mohan Yadav said that government employees will get this benefit from April 2026.
How much is the dearness allowance now?
Madhya Pradesh government has announced a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance. At present dearness allowance is 55% and after this announcement DA has increased to 58%. The increased rate will be applicable from April 2026 and the employee-pensioners will see its benefit in the salary and pension they receive in May.
Allowance of state employees reached equal to that of the Center
The decision to increase DA has been taken at a time when the expenditure on daily needs is increasing slightly. However, according to the Central Bank, inflation is under control. Mohan Yadav government has clarified that the dearness allowance of state employees i.e. government employees of MP has now become equal to that of the Centre. This was the demand of the government employee organizations of the state for a long time, which has now been fulfilled.
Will the previous arrears also be received?
MP government has also said that the arrears from July 2025 to March 2026 will also be given to the employees. However, this amount will not come into the account in lump sum, rather it will be paid in 6 equal installments starting from May 2026. That means employees will continue to get additional amount every month. More money will come into his account as salary.
Good news for pensioners also
Apart from the employees working in the state, retired employees i.e. pensioners will also get the benefit of this decision. It has been told that the pensioners of the state will also get the benefit. They will also be given dearness relief at the rate of 58 percent on their pension for January and February 2026. This will increase the income of retired employees i.e. pensioners.
How much will salary and pension increase?
If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 50 thousand, then he will now get Rs 29,000 as DA. Earlier he used to get Rs 27,500 as DA. That means his salary will see an increase of Rs 1,500. Let us tell you that many other allowances are also included in the gross salary.
Whereas pensioners or retired employees whose basic pension is Rs 30,000, will now get Rs 17,400 as DR. Earlier he used to get Rs 16,500 as DA. That means there will be an increase of Rs 900 in his pension.
