Cyclone Ditwah: Many Indigo-Air India flights canceled due to bad weather

Cyclonic storm ‘Ditvaha’ caused devastation in Sri Lanka. Orange alert, warning of heavy rain and strong wind in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh due to the increasing storm in the Bay of Bengal. Many Indigo and Air India flights had to be cancelled.

Cyclone Ditwah: Cyclonic storm ‘Ditvaha’ has caused massive devastation in the coastal areas of Sri Lanka. Now this cyclone is moving towards north-west direction in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the coastal areas of North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh. There is a warning of strong winds and heavy rain due to the storm. Also, due to fear of bad weather, Indigo Airlines has canceled many flights.

Issuing an advisory, Indigo Airlines said, due to the current situation related to Cyclone Ditvah and heavy rains, there may be disruption in flights to and from Jaffna, Pondicherry, Tuticorin and Trichy. Some flights delayed, some diverted or canceled

According to reports, operations of flights connecting Chennai to Sri Lanka were affected on Friday as Cyclone Ditvah caused massive destruction in Sri Lanka. Many flights of IndiGo and SriLankan Airlines were delayed, while some had to be diverted or cancelled. An IndiGo flight from Colombo, which was scheduled to land in Chennai at 4.30 am, was delayed by two hours due to bad weather in Colombo. Another Indigo flight was delayed by 5 hours and landed at 3.30 pm. A SriLankan Airlines flight, which was scheduled to land in Chennai at 8:40 pm, arrived late by an hour.

3 Air India flights to Sri Lanka canceled

Due to late arrival, scheduled flights from Chennai to Sri Lanka were also affected. An IndiGo flight, which was scheduled to depart from Chennai at 11.54 am, was diverted to Coimbatore as the flight could not land in Colombo. The same flight returned to Colombo after two hours. Air India sources confirmed that 3 flights to Sri Lanka from different cities were cancelled. Meanwhile, Indigo sources said their flights to Jaffna were cancelled.
