India are all set to take on England in the 4th Test of the five-match series for the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy from July 23 (Thursday) at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.
This is a do-or-die match for India after the heartbreaking loss at Lord’s led them to trailing the series by a margin of 1-2. This meas that the match at Manchester in a must-win for the Indian team, as a loss would mean they would have lost the series with just one game to go. Amdst this, India have been hit with injuries to their pace department, in the form of Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. They now have taken a big step after these injury scares.
According to a report by The Indian Express, India have added 24-year-old Chennai Super Kings and Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj into the squad as cover. Kamboj was part of the India A team that played two unofficial Tests vs England Lions and an intra-squad game against the main squad prior to the start of the series. He impressed everyone taking 5 wickets in the two matches vs the England Lions. He has als taken 79 wickets in 24 first-class matches for Haryana.
Arshdeep Singh Out, Akash Deep Doubtful
Arshdeep Singh suffered a cut on his left-hand while bowling practice before the 4th Test vs England. The Indian Express report states that this cut needs 10 days to recover. This means it is unlikely he could be available for selection for
“Arshdeep has a deep cut and has had stitches, he will take at least ten days to get completely fit. The selectors have decided to add Kamboj in the squad,” a source close the proceedings told the publication.
Akash Deep, who was India’s hero in their only win in the series so far at Edgbaston, also has missed practice after struggling with a groin niggle, the report stated.
