Cristiano Ronaldo, 40, continued his scoring spree when he bagged a brace for Al-Nassr in a pre-season clash against La Liga side Almeria.
With this, he extended his record of finding the net to seven consecutive matches, netting 10 goals in the process.
The Portuguese superstar was at his clinical best, and his brace comes just days after he registered a hat-trick earlier in the week.
Ronaldo, who has now scored five times in Al-Nassr’s last two games, proved to be a nightmare for the opposition and, at 40 years old, showed no signs of slowing down. Interestingly, despite the match being held in Spain’s Power Horse Stadium ( a rival of Real Madrid), more than 18,000 fans joined in the chant of the famous ‘SIU’.
However, there was heartbreak at the end when Al Nassr lost the game by a margin of 2-3.
Earlier, at the start of the season, there were some doubts over Ronaldo’s commitment to Al Nassr, but the former Manchester and Real Madrid icon put all doubts to rest by his commitment to Al Nassr, the Roshn Saudi League.
“Of course since day one, I have [an agreement] to make change not only in Al Nassr, but in a country, too. So this is my goal. Of course, my goal is always to win something important for Al Nassr,” Ronaldo had told SPL.
“And I still believe in that. This is why I renewed the two years more – because I believe that I will be champion in Saudi Arabia,” he added.
“We’re still improving, but I believe that in this moment we’re in [the] top five [leagues in the world] already. But I still believe that we continue to improve, and we have time – and we show the last two and a half years that the league is going up all the time,” he concluded.
