Cricket West Indies (CWI) has disclosed the international retainer contracts for the upcoming 2026-27 season, featuring 15 players in both the senior men’s and women’s teams.
Additionally, three male cricketers have been granted development contracts. These contracts will be effective from October 1, 2026, until September 30, 2027. Shai Hope, Roston Chase, and Hayley Matthews will continue to captain their respective teams, with Hope leading the men’s ODI and T20I squads, Chase at the helm of the Test team, and Matthews overseeing the senior women’s side, as reported by the ICC.
Emerging Talents in the Men’s Team
John Campbell has secured an international retainer contract for the first time since 2019, following a standout 2025-26 season. He achieved his first Test century, scoring an unbeaten 115 against India in Delhi last October, and made a notable return to the ODI team after a six-year hiatus, scoring a century off 68 balls against India in Guwahati last September.
Matthew Forde and Amir Jangoo have also received their initial international retainer contracts. Forde was the leading wicket-taker for West Indies during the powerplay in both white-ball formats, taking 10 wickets in T20Is and six in ODIs. Jangoo made headlines with a career-best score of 233 in Test cricket against Sri Lanka in Antigua last June, setting a world record for the highest sixth-wicket partnership in Test history with Roston Chase. He continued his form in the ongoing World Test Championship Test against Bangladesh, finishing the first day with an unbeaten 111.
Contract Updates and Development Players
Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Justin Greaves, and Jomel Warrican are entering the final year of their two-year contracts. Meanwhile, Jewel Andrew, Ackeem Auguste, and Vitel Lawes have been awarded development contracts, with Auguste and Lawes receiving their first international contracts despite already representing the West Indies.
Updates on the Women’s Team
In the women’s team, Mandy Mangru has earned her first international retainer contract after contributing to the West Indies’ journey to the semi-finals of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Deandra Dottin and Chinelle Henry are in the final year of their contracts, as the team gears up for a crucial three-match ODI series against Pakistan in December under interim head coach Andre Coley. This series is vital for the West Indies as they aim for automatic qualification for the next ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
