Cricket ball shortage due to Iran-Israel war, tension increased before the new season

The war between Iran and Israel-America is not stopping. Thousands of people have lost their lives and there is an outcry across West Asia. On one side, big fast and gas ships are stuck in the sea. Thousands of people are continuously stranded at different airports. The impact of all this is gradually being felt in other parts of the world in some form or the other. The world of sports is also not untouched and one such new case has come from England, where the new cricket season is on the verge of being affected. The reason is lack of balls.

A report in the British newspaper Daily Mail has revealed that the England Cricket Board is facing the problem of shortage of balls before the domestic County Championship season starting from April 3. 18 teams participate in the County Championship of England and Dukes balls are used in it. These balls are manufactured by Dukes Company of England but South Asia also has an important role in it and at present this war is creating problems.

According to the report, between 4000 to 5000 balls are used every year for the county season and these balls are imported from South Asia (mainly India). The leather and other materials used in the balls come from England, but the stitching of these balls is done by hand here.

Dukes owner Dilip Jajodia told the newspaper that sufficient balls are ready but the airlines are unable to bring them because there are a lot of obstacles at the moment. He also said that the cost of importing balls has increased from 5 pounds to 15 pounds per kg.
