Patakha Factory Blast in Lucknow: A horrific explosion occurred in the firecracker factory in Gudamba area of the capital Lucknow. Husband and wife died and many people were injured in the accident. Taking cognizance, CM Yogi gave instructions to intensify relief and rescue work and treat the injured.
Lucknow Patakha Factory Blast: A tragic accident occurred in Gudamba area of the capital Lucknow on Sunday morning. A sudden bang in the cracker factory being made for the preparation of Dussehra. The voice was so terrible that the echo for half a kilometer was heard. On seeing this, the entire house turned into debris and cracks in the walls of nearby houses. The accident caused panic in the area.
Husband and wife die in accident, many people injured
According to the information received, Alam and his wife Munni, who were making firecrackers, died on the spot. Alam’s elder son Imran and neighboring Nadeem were seriously injured. According to initial reports, there were two blasts, whose intensity was so high that the house was completely demolished.

Rescue teams on the spot, fear of being buried in debris
On receiving the information of the incident, the fire brigade, ADCP East, ACP Ghazipur and Inspector Gudamba reached the spot with the police force. Relief and rescue operations are going on fast to evacuate the people buried in the debris. Initial reports feared the death of 7 people, although the police have officially confirmed 2 deaths and said that 5 people were seriously injured.
Official statement of police
Lucknow police issued a statement on the incident and said,
“On 31 August 2025 at around 12 noon, an explosion was reported in a house in the police station Gudamba area. Immediate police force, fire brigade, ambulance, SDRF and BDDST team reached the spot. So far 2 people have been killed and 5 people have been confirmed to be injured. The injured have been sent to the hospital and relief work is going on.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over this incident. Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, he directed the district administration to expedite immediate relief and rescue operations. Also, asked the injured to immediately reach the hospital and arrange for proper treatment. CM Yogi also wished the injured to recover early.
