Dr. Dheeraj Kumar Singh passed the UPSC exam in his very first attempt after rejecting a job worth lakhs. He fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS by securing 64th rank in 2019. He is now working on the post of Joint Secretary in Jaipur.
UPSC exam is considered to be one of the toughest exams in India. Those who pass it get prestigious government jobs like IAS, IPS, IFS. Many people are not able to pass this examination even after years of hard work. But, today we are going to tell you about a candidate who passed the UPSC exam in the very first attempt. The story of determination of IAS officer Dheeraj Kumar Singh is an inspiration for everyone.
Dheeraj Kumar Singh started preparing for Civil Services Examination after completing MBBS and MD. For this he even rejected a job with a salary of lakhs of rupees every month. Dheeraj was very smart in studies. After performing brilliantly in the 12th board exams, he completed MBBS from Banaras Hindu University and then MD degree from the same.
Dheeraj Kumar Singh is a resident of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. His father worked in another city. Meanwhile, his mother’s health deteriorated, due to which Dheeraj had to leave his studies midway and return to the village. He requested the authorities several times to transfer his father to his hometown, but no one listened to him. After this incident, Dheeraj decided to join civil service.
Dheeraj and his family had to face a lot of difficulties financially. During this time, when he told his family about his decision to take the UPSC exam, everyone opposed it. Despite this, he remained firm on his decision. For his dream of civil service, Dheeraj rejected the job offer of Rs 5 lakh per month without even thinking.
Dheeraj Kumar Singh had decided by himself that he would appear for UPSC exam only once. He had decided that if he failed in his first attempt, he would focus only on his medical career. At last, his hard work day and night paid off. Dheeraj became an IAS officer by securing 64th rank in the 2019 UPSC CSE exam.
Dheeraj scored 853 marks in main exam and 154 marks in interview round. Overall, he got 1007 marks. At present, he is serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Personnel (A-1), Jaipur, Rajasthan.
