The player at the centre of the drama was St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots opener Johnson Charles, who eventually walked away with the Player of the Match award after guiding his team to a memorable victory over the Barbados Tridents.
Charles’ innings almost ended in the fourth over
The Patriots were chasing a daunting target of 218 runs, and Charles played a crucial role in the successful chase.
He smashed 78 runs from just 45 deliveries, striking seven sixes and six fours. But his explosive knock could easily have ended much earlier.
During the fourth over of the Patriots’ innings, Charles was caught off the fifth delivery-a high full toss. The third umpire initially ruled him out, bringing his innings to an unexpected end.

The Patriots challenged the decision, arguing that the delivery had been above waist height.
